Gunnarsson elaborates: “Söknuður was written when a few months had passed from the evacuation. At first there was a lot of uncertainty, shock, it all happened so quickly. But as time passed it became clear we weren’t going home anytime soon and those feelings turned into loss, grief, and a sense of somber nostalgia and yearning for the places I’ve known my whole life, many of which were no more.”
The premiere will be held at the Bio Paradis cinema in Reykjavík, Nov 6th during the Iceland Airwaves festival.
“I’m really proud of how this came out. The energy in the room was absolutely amazing, and performing the whole thing live with a full band and string section felt incredible.” , Gísli says.
