DREAM THEATER'S Jordan Rudess now has a signature guitar with Strandberg

Although he’s primarily a keyboard player, Jordan Rudess is becoming a fierce competitor for John Petrucci in Dream Theater. While he already has a signature model with Druzkowski Guitars, Rudess got another great guitar with Strandberg.
The new model, called Boden JR Sorcerer, is a high-end piece with a high-end price. Listed under $3,495, the guitar sure looks its price range. Coming with a chambered swamp ash body, it features gorgeous flame maple top and a transparent metallic purple burst gloss finish.
This is all accompanied by a roasted bolt-on maple neck, featuring the company’s special EndurNeck profile, 24 frets made of 51100 Stainless Steel Fretwir, artificial ebonol fretboard, and a zero fret. Of course, this is a headless guitar, but what also makes it an incredible shred machine is its 20-inch fretboard radius.
On the other end, we have Strandberg’s EGS Rev7B bridge and string locks. However, another trait that really takes this model to a whole new level is its pickup and electronics setup. In the bridge position, there’s the Suhr SSH+ while the neck position has the Sustainiac Stealth Pro. You know, that one pickup that lets your string vibrate until the batteries are dead.
Apart from the volume control, there’s also the usual three-way pickup selector, as well as two switches for the Sustainiac pickup. Of course, there are more details about this fine instrument, which you can find on Strandberg’s website here.
