07-09-2026

Universal Studios Hollywood‘s Halloween Horror Nights 2026 kicked off on Thursday, September 3 and will run on select nights through November 1.

This year’s lineup features eight haunted houses and the Terror Tram, including “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness”, a haunted house celebrating the late heavy metal icon and more than four decades of his solo career.

“Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness” marks another milestone in the continued expansion of Ozzy‘s global consumer products and brand licensing program.

Inspired by Ozzy Osbourne‘s groundbreaking solo career, the haunted house transports fans through iconic moments spanning more than four decades of music, imagery and storytelling. Featuring scenes inspired by legendary albums including “Blizzard Of Ozz”“Diary Of A Madman”“Bark At The Moon”“No More Tears” and “Ordinary Man”, the experience celebrates one of rock’s most influential artists while creating a powerful new touchpoint for fans around the world. “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness” features different variants of Ozzy jumping out to scare visitors, ranging from mad-scientist Ozzy to a demon-esque bat carrying Ozzy‘s head.

John Murdy, executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, told TimeOut Los Angeles that he had one demand when meeting with Ozzy‘s son, Jack, to first discuss the project: “I said, ‘Jack, whatever we do in this house, there’s one scene we have to do: I want a giant bat to bite the head off your father.'”

A number of media outlets attended opening night of Universal‘s annual event in Hollywood, including Access Hollywood, which chatted with both Sharon and Jack Osbourne, who detailed their contributions to the planning process (see video below).

Regarding how involved she was in the design of “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness”Sharon said: “Listen, I don’t design. These people that work here are amazing. All the designers, the people that build the sets. I mean, they have an amazing crew here and in Orlando, ’cause we’ve got one in there, too, and they’ve just done an amazing job. I haven’t been in it, I’ve seen it from the first idea. So I’ve seen it as it’s progressed on paper.”

Jack said that he was personally “pretty involved” in the creation of “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness”. He explained: “We started conversations with Universal maybe September of last year. And we came a few times. And, yeah, [we were] very much involved.”

Asked how much of Ozzy‘s incredible life is featured in the haunted house, Jack said: “It’s a lot of ‘inspired by’. So if you’re familiar with my dad’s musical catalog or album covers or what have you, it’s all kind of woven in there.”

On the topic of how he thinks Ozzy would feel about a haunted mansion in his honor, Jack said: “Oh, well, back in 2013, they did a BLACK SABBATH house, and he loved it. I mean, he even went and walked through it. He had such a good time, and he was just really just thrilled by it, and he would love getting the updates on how long the lines were to go into the house.”

Asked if Ozzy was scared of anything, Jack said: “Oh, man. He was scared of spiders. And he hated being tickled. Oh my goodness — if you tickled him, he would lose his shit.”

According to VarietyOzzy’s Bar — a themed food and beverage location (on the Lower Lot) at Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights 2026 — drew in an approximately hourlong wait by the end of the opening night, serving themed cocktails such as the Blizzard Of Ozz-arita and the Ultimate Sin-ammon, as well as meals including a naan taco named Bark At The Naan.

Here is a look at some the menu and the descriptions:

When “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince Of Darkness” was first announced in July, Sharon and Jack said in a joint statement: “Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created. Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life. Walking through these haunted houses, you’ll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together.”

We previously had the privilege of collaborating with Ozzy, and this new haunted house is an opportunity to honor his extraordinary solo career. Ozzy died on July 22 of a heart attack, his death certificate revealed. The certificate filed in London also said Osbourne suffered from coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.

A private funeral service for Ozzy was held on July 31 on the 250-acre grounds of the house the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer and his wife bought in 1993 in Buckinghamshire, England. Only 110 of the singer’s friends and family members attended the service, including his SABBATH bandmates, Robert Trujillo (METALLICA),Rob ZombieZakk WyldeMarilyn Manson and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT).

The day before the private funeral, thousands of fans gathered in the streets of Birmingham to pay tribute to OzzySharon, along with their children AiméeKelly and Jack, joined mourners for the emotional tribute.

A little over two months ago, Ozzy reunited with the rest of the original BLACK SABBATH lineup — guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward — for what was his final performance at the “Back To The Beginning” charity concert in their original hometown of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

At “Back To The Beginning”Ozzy played a five-song set with his solo band — consisting of guitarist Zakk Wylde, bassist Mike Inez, keyboardist Adam Wakeman and drummer Tommy Clufetos — before being joined by IommiButler and Ward for four classic SABBATH songs: “War Pigs”“Iron Man”“N.I.B.” and “Paranoid”.

Ozzy‘s solo set consisted of four songs from Osbourne‘s 1980 solo debut album “Blizzard Of Ozz” — “I Don’t Know”“Mr. Crowley”“Suicide Solution” and “Crazy Train” — along with his 1991 “No More Tears” ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home”.

The 76-year-old heavy metal singer sang while seated on a black throne and appeared overcome with emotion at times. “You have no idea how I feel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he told the crowd.
