AFGELAST – Uli Jon Roth
Uli Jon Roth komt naar Sneek! De ex-Scorpions-gitarist gaat wat bijzonders doen in 2020. Met zijn show ‘Interstellar Sky Guitar’ gaat hij solo en doet dat bij ons in de prachtige setting van de Noorderkerkzaal. Uli Jon Roth wordt breed erkend als een van de beste gitaristen ooit en heeft baanbrekend werk verricht in de wereld van de elektrische gitaar.
Het programma van deze show is uniek. In het eerste gedeelte zal Uli zich richten op interpretaties van de grote klassieke meesterwerken van deze wereld, zoals gecomponeerd door bijvoorbeeld Mozart en Bach. Tussendoor zal hij melodieuze eigen composities en improvisaties laten horen op zijn negensnarige (!) Flamenco Sky Guitar. Het tweede gedeelte is gericht op het werk waar Uli zelf naam mee maakte: zijn rockklassiekers! Wat te denken van ‘The Sails Of Charon’ of ‘Fire Wind’ van Electric Sun? Uli heeft nog meer verrassingen in petto: schermen, waarop hij diverse relevantie projecties zal vertonen, en pianospel!Uli zelf over zijn ambitieuze project:
“Having devoted the last few years’ tours to mainly my rock related music with my band, this next tour is a completely new departure for me and will be quite different in many aspects. The INTERSTELLAR SKY GUITAR TOUR is going to be unlike any other tour I’ve ever done regarding the choice of music and the format.
It is true that for years I have largely neglected my more classical repertoire and the Sky of Avalon/ Transcendental Sky Guitar music on stage. But quite a few among my audience have asked me repeatedly to play this kind of music again. Well here it is. This tour will be completely dedicated to my “other musical half” – the world of melodic and dramatic orchestral pieces, my personal favourite world of music. This framework will give me the opportunity to do many new things which I couldn’t possibly do in a band context and I’m really looking forward to this artistic challenge!”
