CHARLOTTE WESSELS and her band THE OBSESSION release new single 'After Us, The Flood'

Former DELAIN vocalist CHARLOTTE WESSELS returns and her band THE OBSESSION open a new chapter with “After Us, The Flood”. The song is a standalone, following her solo album, The Obsession, released on September 20, 2024 via Napalm Records.

Wessels comments: “‘After Us, The Flood’ is a song about climate change, told through the eyes of someone who has convinced himself it isn’t real. He feels protected within the walls of his own home while the world outside quietly begins to fall apart. As the song unfolds (spoilers!) that sense of safety proves to be an illusion; the decay he’s ignored eventually finds its way inside. We poured a lot of heart into this track, shaping a sonic story about denial, dread, and the fragile comfort of looking away. The video doesn’t literally follow the lyrics, but instead imagines the consequences of that mindset, offering a symbolic glimpse of a world where wealth loses all meaning once the planet as we know it is gone.”

In Februari 2021 all members of DELAIN famously left the band. DELAIN has since rejoined with former members Sander Zoer (drums and Ronald Landa (guitar) and attracted Italians Diana Leah (vocals) and Ludo Cioffi (bass, ex Ne Obliviscaris). the band has released the album ‘Dark Waters‘ on NAPALM RECORDS in 2023 and has been on several European tours in Europe and in the USA.

“This album is significant, for on the one hand, telling such a deeply personal journey – through its unintended theme of fear and obsessive thoughts – and at the same time, representing the joy of finding the song’s true forms with everyone involved in the making of this record. There were moments in the studio with the band that truly reminded me of why I love making music in the first place, and I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited about music going out into the world. This is the album I want to re-introduce myself with, and I’m so glad to do it with this amazing team.”
