NEW YEARS DAY shares title track of upcoming album 'Half Black Heart'

Rock band NEW YEARS DAY has shared “Half Black Heart”, the title track of the band’s upcoming fifth studio album. The LP will be out in on March 1 on Century media records.

“‘Half Black Heart’ is my anthem,” shares vocalist Ash Costello. “The concept behind it is simple yet powerful — no one is purely one thing. Nobody is so flawless that they have the right to pass judgment on someone else’s flaws. We all exist as a mix of good and bad, innocence and guilt, a bit angelic and a bit devilish.”
She continues: “The message is rooted in the idea that ‘he who is without sin can cast the first stone,’ meaning that no one is in a position to judge because everyone makes mistakes. I don’t believe in the idea of a flawless human being, and this song is my way of addressing those who may expect perfection from me. Essentially, it’s a declaration that neither I nor anyone else will ever be perfect.”

Costello previously said that “Half Black Heart” “holds a deep significance for us. While it’s common for musicians to express affection for their albums, this one truly stands out to me,” she revealed. “It feels like the culmination of all the hard work and growth we’ve experienced while creating our previous albums coming together. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from those songs and poured it into this record.”
She continued: “One of the reasons why ‘Half Black Heart’ is so special is because we were able to reunite with our original lineup. By adding Jeremy Valentyne, Brandon Wolfe and Trixx to the mix, we tapped into the original sound that initially defined NEW YEARS DAY. It allowed it to evolve into an authentic representation of who we are today!
“The title ‘Half Black Heart’ visually symbolizes the essence of our band. It represents the duality that has always been a part of us — half red, half black; half heavy, half poppy; half dark, half fun, half metal and half rock.
