GWAR is coming to 'Mutant Football League 2'

You prayed. GWAR heard. And they’re coming. Digital Dreams Entertainment Inc. is thrilled to announce Mutant Football League 2: Antarctica Scumdogs, a brand-new American football DLC pack starring the boundary-breaking metal band, launching for PlayStation 5, Steam, and XBOX Series X|S in October 2026.
GWAR tore a new cosmic wormhole in the fabric of space and spilled out into the Mutant Football League 2 universe, where sport is almost as violent as they are — where players are mutilated, referees can be murdered, cheating is encouraged, and sometimes the best defense is simply killing the other team.
It feels just like home for GWAR.
“MFL fans have been asking me for years, ‘When are you going to get GWAR into the game?'” said Michael Mendheim, president of Digital Dreams Entertainment. “Well, the wait is finally over. Football just got louder, bloodier, and a whole lot more GWAR. The Antarctica Scumdogs are coming to MFL2, and we’re making damn sure they’re the deadliest team in the game.”
For more than three decades, GWAR has brought its unique combination of heavy metal, outrageous characters, elaborate mythology, satire, and spectacular stage shows to fans around the world. Now the Scumdogs have found a new stage.
And this one has goalposts.
If you think you know football, you’ve got another thing coming. MFL2 isn’t your typical game of toss the pigskin. It’s a bloodsport of the most brutal kind, where the refs expect dirty play, and a screw-up might just cost you your life. The stadium might kill you, too. It just depends where you’re standing when the buzzsaws start spinning, and the mutant worms start feasting.
It’s the perfect nightmare playground for GWAR, and a crossover MFL2 players have been begging for. Antarctica Scumdogs is the band’s first video game appearance in more than 30 years, and the only time you can be GWAR. The band’s MFL2 team includes:

In true GWAR fashion, the Scumdogs are built to destroy everything in sight, but mainly you. They are the most physically destructive team in MFL2, designed around a philosophy of brutality and carnage and turning every match into a white-knuckle battle for survival. If you’re playing against GWAR, the score is the last thing on your mind.
It wouldn’t be GWAR without a killer venue. Antarctica Scumdogs introduces a spectacular new stadium steeped in GWAR mythology — along with a few surprises they are saving for launch.
The GWAR: Antarctica Scumdogs DLC for Mutant Football League 2 will make its worldwide playable debut at PAX West in Seattle from September 4 through 7, and attendees visiting Digital Dreams Entertainment‘s booth can be the first anywhere to take GWAR onto the MFL2 gridiron. The GWAR: Antarctica Scumdogs DLC will be available to play at the Digital Dreams Entertainment booth at PAX West, Arch Building, Level 4, Booth #853.
Digital Dreams is also holding a daily raffle during the convention, giving attendees the chance to become immortalized as a playable member of GWAR‘s Antarctica Scumdogs team.
The story of GWAR is carved across the history of this hopeless planet, but GWAR themselves are not of this world…Their story begins far past Uranus, in the deepest reaches of space, where the beings known as GWAR were warriors in the Scumdogs of the Universe, an elite fighting force in the army of the Master of All Reality. But GWAR proved too reckless and powerful, and after a series of tragic but hilarious blunders, they were banished to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, with orders to conquer an insignificant backwater prehistoric mudball known as the planet Earth. Once here, GWAR, the original Ancient Aliens, shaped the face of the globe, wiping out the dinosaurs, and mating with apes to create the human race. Having accidentally given rise to all human history, the Master of All Reality froze them in Antarctic ice where they could do no more harm. It was there they were discovered by a shady entrepreneur known as Sleazy P Martini, who sat the band down in front of professional wrestling, late-night horror movies, heavy metal music, and a steady diet of crack cocaine until GWAR became the cultural force they are today!
Mutant Football League 2 is the spiritual successor to the notorious Sega Genesis cult classic Mutant League Football. MFL2 dials up the carnage with a brutally addictive blend of arcade-style football, strategic gameplay, twisted humor, and absolute mayhem. The 8-on-8 arcade football game pits mutants, monsters, skeletons, robots, and other bloodthirsty competitors against one another in deadly arenas filled with environmental hazards, Dirty Tricks, brutal hits, and plenty of ways for players to permanently leave the game.
Mutant Football League 2 is currently available on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S and Steam.

Chuck Varga, known to fans as the Sexecutioner and one of the founding members of GWAR, is currently battling cancer. In response, the band and their extended community have launched a nationwide blood donation campaign in his honor.
Fans are encouraged to find a blood bank near them and either register as donors or give blood in Chuck‘s name. As a thank you, participants will receive a free exclusive t shirt designed by Chuck himself.
This campaign gives the GWAR faithful a way to show up in a real and meaningful way, helping save lives while honoring a character and creator who has given so much to the band’s world.

Varga was a founding member of GWAR, which formed in 1984, and as the intergalactic Sexecutioner, his job was “making sure the blood goes in all the right places.” Varga sang in the band and created many of the group’s costumes. He told Entertainment Weekly almost a decade ago: “I describe it as a full-body stunt mat. It gives me special powers. I have fallen off stage five feet onto a concrete floor and bounced like a Super Ball.”
Chuck likes to describe himself as one part comic book illustrator, one part special effects designer, two parts sculptor, shaken over some science fiction novels, poured into a rubber mask, and garnished with a twisted sense of humor. In 1985 he co-founded Slave Pit Studios and formed the theatrical rock sensation GWAR. He collaborated on eight major productions, over 1,000 live performances and co-authored two feature length films with two Grammy nominations and a gold record. At this time Varga performed as the Sexecutioner. His art has been described as “eye popping, twisted and over the top, way over!”
In 1995 he partnered up with Don Drakulich to form Hyperreal Productions, an art effects venture producing public sculptures and collectable figures. In 1997, Chuck moved to New York to work on Broadway and feature film productions. He would occasionally perform with GWAR and finally retired on Halloween Scumdog Reunion 2021. Along the way he befriended the likes of Joe Coleman and Robert Williams and many other outsider artists.
Varga met his soon-to-be-wife Bambi The Mermaid at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. It was love at first sight and the two were married there in 2017. He merged his absurdist theatre with her neo-burlesque performances and became a staple at the legendary not-for-profit arts organization Coney Island USA where he reigned as resident Neptune.
Varga divides his time between fine art and underground theater projects, continuing to evolve the blend of spectacle, satire, and handcrafted fantasy that defined his GWAR years with a delightfully unwholesome splash of neo-burlesque charm.
