GOD DETHRONED classic line-up to reunite for one-off show

23-09-2025

Iconic Holland based black/death metallers GOD DETHRONED celebrate their 35th anniversary with a one-off show in Vera, Groningen on October 3rd. The band showcases a reunion of the seminal line-up, of the breakthrough album ‘The Grand Grimoire’ (1997) and ‘Bloody Blasphemy’ (1999).

Says the band:
The calm before the storm is over. Preparations for our reunion show during the 35th anniversary show in @veragroningen are in full swing. Tickets are going fast. Get yours now.

With the reunion, frontman and only original band member Henri Sattler is backed by drummer Roel Sanders (ex Inhmume, Mass Deception, Snaggletoöth), guitarist Jens van der Valk (Autumn, Cantara), and bassist Bert “Beef” Hoving. The band will also be at the afterparty in Cafe De Witte Wolf, from midnight, to 2 AM.

Last year, GOD DETHRONED shed light on a biblical chronicle with the title track and second single from their last studio album “The Judas Paradox,” released on September 6, 2024 through Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). The opening track of the album draws listeners into a perilous abyss filled with betrayal, presenting the narrative from Judas’ perspective. This gradually intensifying song weaves the apostle’s account of the historical events involving Jesus, who refutes the unfounded accusations against one of his nearest disciples, expressed through murmuring choral chants.

Vocalist/guitarist Henri “The Serpent King” Sattler explains, “The title track of the album! The song talks about Judas Iscariot, who speaks about the events surrounding the betrayal of Jesus Christ from his point of view. It’s a topic which holds the world in its grip since the story became public knowledge. Musically it’s the most atmospheric and melody driven song on the album.”

“The Judas Paradox” can be ordered physically and digitally (incl. the two singles, ‘The Judas Paradox’ and ‘Rat Kingdom’), and pre-saved on your preferred digital service provider (DSP) AT THIS LOCATION.

“The Judas Paradox” was produced by the band themselves, with mixing being handled by their very own singer/guitarist Henri. Tony Lindgren, who previously worked with scene greats such as OPETHAMORPHISENSLAVEDKATATONIAKREATOR and SEPULTURA, took over mastering duties at Fascination Street Studios, rounding off the grandly sinister sound of “The Judas Paradox.”
