SAMAEL announce 'Morbid Metal' box set containing every recording before the first album

19-02-2025
SWISS revolutionary metal band SAMAEL announce the release of ‘Morbid Metal’, a box set containeing all the band’s recording before their debut album ‘Worship Him’. The box set will be release by Darkness Shall Rise Productions.
Into The Pentagram…
This marvellous box comprises all the material SAMAEL unleashed before the release of their first album “Worship Him” plus a so far unreleased live recording from 1992.
Despite these recordings showing SAMAEL in their rawest and most primal, unpolished shape, they are nevertheless essential documents of a band that would go on to leave an indelible mark on Black Metal forever. Listening to these early recordings, one cannot but notice that there’s a certain magic immortalized in these relics. Although it’s rather obvious SAMAEL were big time into their compatriots HELLHAMMER back in the day, even the very earliest songs are proof of a band having already found its own identity.
For the first time these pillars of darkness so influential for countless of maniacs worldwide are made available on high quality picture 7” EPs.
The following recordings of the Swiss masters are featured in this box:
EP1: Into the Infernal Storm of Evil (Demo recorded in March 1988)
EP2: Macabre Operetta (Rehearsal recorded in May 1988)
EP3: Medieval Prophecy (7” EP recorded in October 1988)
EP4: From The Dark To Black (Promo recorded in 1989)
EP5: Morbid Metal (Live in Rotterdam in 1992)
Next to the five picture-disc EPs including sleeve, the box contains a massive 120 pages hardcover book including a new in-depth interview with Vorphalack as well as many other new interviews and liner notes and a lot of unseen pictures from the glorious old days, a patch and a handnumbered certificate.
The box is strictly limited to 500 handnumbered copies only.
All audio material restored and mastered for vinyl by Patrick W. Engel at Temple Of Disharmony.
Anyone who is into the first monumental albums of SAMAEL and/or interested in the history of Black Metal needs to make sure to get this one-of-a-kind box.
THE PAST IS ALIVE!

In June 2020, SAMAEL announced the addition of bassist Ales Campanelli to the group’s ranks.
A former member of SYBREED, OBSYDIANS and THE ERKONAUTS, Ales had been playing with SAMAEL guitarist Thomas “Drop” Betrisey for many years. He was no stranger to the machines-versus-humans music of SAMAEL and had known the band since its early black metal days.
Campanelli made his live debut with SAMAEL as part of Tohuwabohu, a worldwide, pay-what-you-want streaming metal event, in June 2020.
Ales joined SAMAEL as the replacement for Pierre “Zorrac” Carroz (SCARS DIVIDE, HEROD), who had played with the group since July 2018.
Longtime SAMAEL guitarist Marco “Makro” Rivao left the band in April 2018 “to do something different.” Bassist Drop has since taken over guitar duties in the group.
SAMAEL‘s latest album, “Hegemony”, was released in October 2017 via Napalm Records.
